Summary
Own-initiative report on transport applications of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and short- and medium-term EU policy. Amendments highlight satellite navigation across transport modes for optimising traffic, reducing CO2 emissions and improving logistics and safety, call for priority to sustainability applications, more EU research and development funding, coordination of EGNOS and Galileo with GPS and Glonass, engaging local authorities and SMEs as end-users, and Europe's independence from foreign, military-controlled systems.
