Summary
The dossier is the annual report on the functioning of the Schengen area. Amendments offer sharply opposing characterisations of Schengen and free movement, address the reintroduction and prolongation of internal border controls since 2014, asylum seekers and irregular migration with secondary movements, terrorism and internal security, the construction of walls and fences, the operational and investment costs of border controls, and the accession of Romania and Bulgaria.
