Asylum and migration management

2020/0279(COD)·9th term·LIBE·COD - Ordinary legislative procedure (ex-codecision procedure)·CompletedProcedure completed
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): TOBÉ Tomas (EPP)
Summary

A legislative proposal on asylum and migration management. Amendments rework the return-sponsorship mechanism, under which a Member State commits to support another in returning illegally staying third-country nationals—including counselling on return and reintegration, logistical and financial assistance for voluntary departure, and arranging transport—while some texts delete provisions and others recast solidarity and voluntary relocation of beneficiaries of international protection.

3 roll-call votes

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
