Summary

This legislative-initiative report examines challenges of sport events' organisers in the digital environment. Amendments invoke Article 165 TFEU and the European model of sport, highlight sport's economic weight and grassroots funding, and focus on online piracy of live sports broadcasts, broadcasting and media rights, the Memorandum of Understanding on online advertising and IPR, illegal streaming, and the COVID-19 impact on the sport sector.
