Procedure

Equal pay for equal work between men and women (pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms)

2021/0050(COD)·9th term·EMPL / FEMM·COD - Ordinary legislative procedure (ex-codecision procedure)·Completed
Rapporteurs (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): RAFAELA Samira (Renew), PETER-HANSEN Kira Marie (Verts/ALE)
Summary

Proposed directive on equal pay for equal work between men and women, including pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms. Several amendments reject the Commission proposal, citing subsidiarity, proportionality and the European Parliamentary Research Service appraisal, while others address penalties and sanctions for infringements, employer obligations, monitoring or equality bodies, and ground equal-pay rights in the TFEU, the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Court of Justice case-law.

4 roll-call votes

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
