Continued financial and military support to Ukraine by EU Member States
Resolution on a topical subject.
In this non-legislative resolution, Parliament states its political position on continued financial and military support to Ukraine by EU Member States. It recalls that Russia has been carrying out an illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine since 24 February 2022, that Russian forces continue systematic and indiscriminate attacks against civilian areas and infrastructure, and that such acts constitute war crimes under international law. The resolution notes that the EU and its Member States have contributed more than EUR 100 billion in financial, humanitarian, refugee and military assistance and established the Ukraine Facility providing up to EUR 50 billion from 2024 to 2027, and it cites the joint Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment estimating total reconstruction and recovery costs at least USD 486 billion. It criticises the Hungarian Government for a decree cancelling state-funded shelter for refugees in breach of the Temporary Protection Directive.
