Simplification of certain requirements for spatial information infrastructure in the Union (INSPIRE) (Omnibus VIII on environmental legislation)
This procedure simplifies certain requirements for the Union's spatial information infrastructure (INSPIRE) under an omnibus on environmental legislation. Amendments delete or replace articles of the current Directive while insisting on preserving interoperability, open standards, cross-border compatibility, technology-neutral and API-based delivery, and free discovery and viewing of spatial data. They add limits on public access for security, defence and critical infrastructure reasons, cross-border interoperability on the island of Ireland, safeguards against new obligations on Member States and local authorities, and a review clause.
