The old challenges and new commercial practices in the internal market
Resolution on a topical subject.
In this non-legislative resolution, Parliament sets out its position on old and new challenges in the internal market, reaffirming the single market as a cornerstone of European economic integration while stressing the need for ambitious reforms that do not harm competitiveness or add unnecessary administrative burdens. It calls on the Commission and the Member States to accelerate reforms, eliminate remaining unjustified obstacles to the free movement of goods and services, and maintain strong consumer protection alongside innovation-friendly, proportionate competition rules. Drawing on the Letta and Draghi reports, it highlights untapped potential in the services sector and calls for ambitious targets in the upcoming single market strategy. Parliament welcomes the Commission proposal for a public interface connected to the Internal Market Information System for posting declarations, calls for a single declaration portal and the digitalisation of A1 forms, and stresses the effective recognition of professional qualifications, encouraging the Commission to pursue infringement procedures where Member States do not comply.
