Gaza at breaking point: EU action to combat famine, the urgent need to release hostages and move towards a two-state solution

Summary

In this non-legislative resolution, a joint motion tabled by the S&D, Renew and Verts/ALE groups, Parliament addresses the situation in Gaza, EU action against famine, the release of hostages and movement towards a two-state solution. It expresses great alarm at the catastrophic humanitarian situation, condemns the obstruction of humanitarian aid to Gaza by the Israeli Government, and demands unimpeded large-scale humanitarian assistance, the opening of all border crossings and the full reinstatement of UNRWA's mandate and funding. It calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and for the immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli hostages, condemns the crimes perpetrated by Hamas and calls for further EU sanctions against it, while reaffirming Israel's right to self-defence in compliance with international law.
