The repression and execution of protesters, dissidents, political prisoners and religious minorities in Iran
Resolution on a topical subject.
In this non-legislative resolution, Parliament addresses the repression and execution of protesters, dissidents, political prisoners and religious minorities in Iran, stating that the Iranian people faced mass killings following the 2025-2026 uprising, including at least 236 minors, alongside mass detentions, executions and torture, and noting the UN Fact-Finding Mission's warning that the repression may amount to crimes against humanity. It condemns the regime's accelerating repression and use of the death penalty and demands that executions be stopped immediately and the death penalty fully abolished. It demands the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners and calls on the Council to expand sanctions against Iranian officials responsible for repression, including the judiciary, prison administration and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The resolution further urges Member States to close Iranian diplomatic missions associated with transnational repression, calls for adequate resourcing of the Fact-Finding Mission and the establishment of a tribunal for Iran, and condemns the internet blackout imposed in Iran.
