Summary

This dossier concerns dangerous substances and the banning of exports and safe storage of metallic mercury. The amendments focus on considering the facilities at Almaden (Spain) for safe storage of metallic mercury stocks and mercury sub-produced by European industry, temporary above-ground storage and acceptance criteria, compensation measures for the area affected by the closure of mercury mines, exchange of information, and review of research on safe disposal options including solidification.
