Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): NASSAUER Hartmut (PPE-DE)
Summary

This dossier concerns protection of the environment through criminal law. The amendments require Member States to ensure that conduct infringing listed Community environmental legislation constitutes a criminal offence when committed intentionally or with serious negligence, including discharge of materials or ionising radiation, harm to protected wild fauna and flora species and habitats, and trade in ozone-depleting substances. They define 'unlawful' and 'protected species', referencing the Euratom Treaty and organised crime.
