Summary
This dossier concerns the right of access to a lawyer in criminal and European arrest warrant proceedings and the right to communicate upon arrest. The amendments define 'lawyer' and 'child', set out the lawyer's presence at police interviews and hearings, limit derogations in line with European Court of Human Rights case law, address vulnerable suspects and legal aid, and exclude evidence obtained in breach of the right.
