Implementation of the common security and defence policy

An own-initiative report on the implementation of the common security and defence policy. The amendments describe the changing geostrategic context, including upheavals in the Middle East and North Africa and threats linked to proliferation, call for the EU to assert strategic autonomy with credible civilian and military capabilities while respecting existing alliances, and express concern over strategic decline, falling defence budgets and an outdated European Security Strategy.
