Summary

Proposal to establish the European Union Agency for Asylum. Amendments rework the recitals on the Common European Asylum System, renaming the European Asylum Support Office and defining the Agency's role in practical cooperation, training of experts, and production of country-of-origin information, with references to Member State sovereignty, third countries, the UNHCR, and a common EU list of safe countries of origin.
