Legislative proposal on cooperation between national authorities responsible for enforcing consumer protection laws. Amendments revise recitals on the powers of competent authorities to detect and stop intra-Union and widespread infringements, particularly in the digital environment where traders conceal their identity or relocate within the Union or to a third country, while leaving Member States free to allocate investigative and enforcement powers and requiring proportionality, fundamental-rights safeguards and business confidentiality.
