Summary
This dossier concerns the minimum level of training of seafarers, amending Directive 2008/106/EC. Amendments address the centralised mechanism for recognising third-country certificates and its reassessment intervals, the role of the Commission and the European Maritime Safety Agency, alignment with the STCW Convention, possible certificates of excellence and STCW+ schemes, mobility and mutual recognition of certificates, and provisions giving priority of access to employment to European citizens and seafarers.
