The severe political, humanitarian and human rights crisis in Sudan, in particular sexual violence and child rape
Resolution on a topical subject.
In this non-legislative resolution, Parliament addresses the political, humanitarian and human rights crisis in Sudan arising from the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), calling on all parties to immediately cease hostilities, seek a negotiated solution and fulfil their Jeddah Declaration commitments. It strongly condemns indiscriminate attacks on civilians and widespread sexual violence against women and children committed by both the SAF and RSF, including child rape, and demands that perpetrators be held accountable and that survivors receive healthcare and psychosocial support. Parliament urges the Council to adopt targeted measures and sanctions on those responsible for serious human rights violations, to act against violators of the UN arms embargo on Darfur and support its expansion to all of Sudan, and urges the EU and its Member States to support the International Criminal Court's investigation and increase humanitarian aid. It instructs its President to forward the resolution to the Council, the Commission, the VP/HR, the Sudanese authorities, the African Union, the UN Secretary-General and the Pan-African Parliament, and adopted it on 2025-03-13.
