Procedure
Implementation of Directive 2002/14/EC establishing a general framework for informing and consulting employees in the European Community
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): COTTIGNY Jean Louis (PSE)
Summary
An own-initiative report on implementing Directive 2002/14/EC establishing a general framework for informing and consulting employees. The amendments address uneven, minimalist transposition by Member States, coverage of 'atypical' employees such as part-time, temporary, fixed-term workers, trainees and apprentices, the employer's right under Article 6 not to disclose confidential information, workforce-size thresholds, the definition of 'information', alignment with the Charter of Fundamental Rights, the role of trade unions, and deterrent sanctions.
